if I didn't get match,is it better to apply for the prelim positions? what are the benefits of prelim?

My two cents is That preliminar and transitional spots are more competitive than categorical as competitive AMGs who will be marching in dermatology and radiology usually go after these spots, even if they are comm hospitals. But if you can get it it is a a great opportunity to improve your chances of matching in q year

but there is prelim in IM...will it help for match? and the payments and schedule will be like the resident?

payment and schedule will be like resident. You should also apply to Prelim spots alongwith categorical.....the AMG's are mostly going for the Transitional spots. Good performance in Prelim and you can probably match in categorical at same program next year.
