Theory Questions in interviews - mdmom2016
#1
Hi All,

I'm wondering if its all personality/ behavioral questions asked during residency interviews.
Have any of you who has already been to interviews in any specialty ever encountered patient management questions or Theory questions at all ?

If you have I'd appreciate any feedback and specific questions so that I can get an idea about what to prepare for.

Medical questions are frequently asked especially in prematch programs. It could be anything. Cases. Random theoretical questions. Don't fret over it. You can't prepare for it. You don't have to be correct hundred percent though it wouldn't hurt be. They will just want to see how you'd approach the situation in most of the times.

Behavioral questions are becoming more and more common. That doesn't mean that all questions are going to be behavioral, in fact the majority of programs still ask "regular" interview questions.

Here are some common behavioral questions for residency interviews:

How do you deal with stress?
Tell me a time that you failed?
Tell me a time you went above and beyond?
How did you use teamwork to accomplish a goal?
How do you deal with negative feedback?
Tell me a time you were a leader?
Tell me a time you broke the rules?
How do you deal with conflict?
What's something not in your CV?
