All communication is warranted. Just not during soap

Not all contact is warranted. You can not ask a program how they ranked you. They can tell you how they ranked you, but you can't ask. You can also tell them how you ranked them, if you are being honest. It's fine to communicate with them, but not recommended. They are very busy and they know that they are not to rank you based on your interest, rather, how much they want you.
