Your pat 59 y/o F with history of hypothyroidism & hyperlipidemia. The med pat taking at present included levothyroxine & cholestyramine. What u need to tell pat regard interaction to med she is taking

a) No need to take levothyroxine as it can interact with cholestyramine
b) Take levothyroxine 1hr before cholestyramine
c) Switch cholestyramine to colesevelam will solve the interaction on an empty stomach
d) Switch cholestyramine -> colestipol this will eliminate the interaction
e) Take them at same time

None of the above? as levothyroxine needs to be taken at least 4 hours before cholestyramine not to be bound by it

B cannot be right answer, as it neeeds to be taken 4 hrs before or 4 hours after to avoid its binding. I was initially thinking of B, but after seeing 1 hr, thought there was a typo insted of 4, so suggested None of the above answer

Taking the levothyroxine and cholestyramine doses too close together may interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine and reduce its effectiveness. To prevent or minimize the interaction, levothyroxine and cholestyramine should be taken at least four hours apart.

Kstar u mixing it u you can take Levothyroxine 1 hour before OR 6-4 after cholestyramine can help interaction our pat.
