medical scribe or Shadowing - virgo32

to do a job as a medical scribe or just shadowing doctors? Which one helps more in getting residency?

I don't think either helps more or less. I was a tutor for USMLE, and that was enough. You will be asked what you have been doing between graduation and applying, so you should be able to talk about something clinically relevant, if possible.

1. Externship (it is hands-on and it is counted as US clinical experience)
2. Scribe (because you would earn money that you can use for your future application)
3. Shadow (AKA observership is not counted as a clinical experience. When you start applying to programs you will see it in their website that observership is not counted.)

medical scribe is not considered as USCE and Shadowing is called as Observerships where you will be shadowing the physicians which is considered as USCE but will not be having much value as Externship. Try to apply for externship.
