Successful experience in matching after fired - enchante
#21
The most important thing that really helps is working somewhere in a challenging environment like a medical ICU or casualty with high workflow for 1 or 2 years or doing a home country residency after finishing medical school. It gives you enough confidence and resilience. Also, you will know how to handle people of different hierarchies and mindsets. Consider residency as a job rather than training. People like me who went with a mindset of residency being a training period and everything can be learnt once getting into residency tend to be less successful. PDs mostly look for people who are already well trained and helpful for their programs. They don't like people who are struggling and needing help.
