'm a Canadian who went to medical school in the Caribbean (they look like this), including two years of clinical rotations in various US hospitals. Although my fellow students, who are US citizens, matched to residencies of their choice, often in prestigious and competitive specialties, I found that this is not the case for those who are not US citizens or green-card holders, and that amazingly enough being Canadian presents special problems. There are more and more Canadians studying medicine abroad in Caribbean schools such as SGU, AUC, Ross and Saba, as well as in Ireland and Europe. After getting a bunch of requests for help from others at these schools IÂ decided to put up this website.
This site contains my personal opinions. I am not attempting to rehash information available at other IMG sites. There are already several comprehensive websites out there with advice for interviews, USMLE, and so on. Instead you'll find here all the web links you are likely to need in your residency search, simplified and step-by-step. The information should be useful to Canadian IMGs as well as all IMGs seeking US medical residency programs on H1B visa sponsorship. I'm assuming a certain familiarity with the residency and visa problems faced by IMGs, if you don't know what I'm talking about you need to go visit various other sites on my Links page first
