in a liver dz patient what will be his Total Ca level and free Ca level,? and explain why?

albumin low =====> total Ca++ low and the free Ca++ high

every 1gm of dec albumin=0.8 loss of Ca.(total=bound)

s......2 gm.....'' '''''' ''''''''''''=1.6 gm loss of ca.('' ''' )

so dec albumin result in Dec TOTAL or bound Ca, free Ca remain NORMAl(no Sx)

more Ca++ binds to albumin ====> hypocalcemia

in liver disease we have also reduced active Vitamine D ..which will decreased this time the free form of Ca & decrease Ph with increse in pth
