PGY-3 opening - imran

Hi
I am in internal medicine PGY-2, & b/o unable to pass step 3 brefore 30 May, 06 cant go to PGY-3 according to our state rule. Does any body knows any PGY-3 opening. in INternal Medicine.

Sorry Imran. Which state did not allow you to be promoted to PGY-3 for step-3? I know only about Pennsylvania. Anyways send e-mail to all IM programs in NY. Find a resident .....is wastage of money as per several posts in this forum...still you can try....it's only $70. If you want put your e-mail, I will send you some suggesions that might be helpful. if you are in IM, you have a good shot at passing the exam. passing b/4 may 30th is difficult.

but all means contact programs in New York. If they cannot accomodate as PGY-3, then maybe they accomodate as a PGY-2. Especially contact Jamaica Hospital or Bronx-Lebanon, Methodist. Maybe a family member (ie wife) can call for. Also, ask your PD or PC to help find a spot. Make sure that they give a good reference for you. At least try to get that.



It's a headache, but finding another position is very doable especially since you have 2 years of USCE. emailing and cold calling are a must.

after you find a spot, try to get STep 3 out of the way ASAP. Try to take 1 month vacation and take of this exam. You especially have a great shot since more than 1/2 the exam is IM.
