Help:Finding a post match spot from PGY-1 -
#1
sad_intern

Hi,
I am currently doing my PGY-1 IM in a Univ program in GA,which I dont like due to many reasons. The program is not at all IMG friendly and creates lot of problems for me due to which I doubt if they will credit my PGY-1 at all.

I wanted to try for fresh position in Post Match in the same speciality again this year.
1.What are my chances ?
2.What should I answer for the reasons I quit ? I dont want to enclose what I faced.
3.Since I am in a residency already will my application be given preference among other applications ?

Pls advise.

No one can guarantee you that you'll find anything for sure during postmatch, it's lottery.

About the reason: the only reason that works is the location, you need to be with your family....other than that, it sounds like you didn't adapt there. It's better a transfer because of location.
My advice is: try not to leave your job until you have something for sure.

one year of experience will certainly help you get a spot at a good place.
