My question to fibonaci:

Can we write our externship or observship into working experience?

I agree with apply on time even if you're waiting on a score. You can note that you're waiting on a score. If I had one regret this match it was not taking advantage of the annual delay until Oct. 1st for Dean's letters from AMGs.

My Step 2 score was due and every year there is a delay in releasing scores between July and August. I could have had 6 more weeks to study to get a higher score and I should have taken advantage of that. Instead I thought I had to be ECFMG certified by the application deadline of September 15th last year. Turns out most AMGs don't need Step 2 scores before the end of the year so I was well within the safe zone of taking the exam and getting the scores before the Oct. 1st deadline when AMG deadlines were due.

I say that date specifically because I noticed that most applications weren't fully downloaded until the AMG dean's letters were released on Oct. 1st. Most IMG interview invites came after that date. Unless the IMG had 250 - 260+ scores no IMG got an early invite like AMGs did.

So from my experience take full advantage of the delay but make sure all your scores are in well before the Oct. 1st deadline when programs download the rest of all the applications. Otherwise it's just a waste of time.
