Hi I am new to this pathology post. I need your advise.
do I have any chances to get in to pathology residency next year? if yes, what chances?

I graduated in 2002, from India. my score 86/90 both 1st attempt/ CS-Passed with 2nd attempt/ step3 not taken yet. no publication, no experience in pathology. I am us Citizen.
I didn't get matched in IM, FM, Ped, Psy, since last 2 years. so I give up for those specialties.
Now I am getting an opportunity to work as a pathologist assistant.
so next year do I have any chances to get in to pathology residency? I am really depressed and confused.

Any other thing you suggest me to improve my chances to get in to pathology residency next year? or I should stick with IM, PED , FM, PSY.

your reply would be appreciate.

hey

I am also interested in applying to pathology. I also don't have any pathology recommendation letters. I have heard that you need three LORS from pathologists, even your med school ones will do. yes ppl wid Phds are applying. How can normal ppl like us compete? I was also thinking of doing masters or Phd IN PATH BUT IT IS 4 years long. I am very tensed out. any ideas?

Do not stress out
I applied for 2009/2010 , without any higher US degree and my only US LoR was uploaded very late in the season , but I managed to get 15 interviews and prematched in a very good program on an H1b visa. The keys are having good scores , step 3 in hand and some path experience, GL

amfas , what do you mean by having some path experience?

Path experience can be some pathology training in your home country ( I am a first year pathology resident in my home country) , Pathologist assistant experience in the US or path observerships. Prior experience is helpful in the sense that it makes transition to this unique field smoother, and also establishes the applicant genuine interest in the speciality.
