i am not buying heat exhaustion..... why did pt feel better after foley insertion...
does not make sense....

we need more history....incomplete q..

I think treatment would be

Admit Ward
vitals q shift
O2' pulse ox if breathing altered
ABG to check anion gap etc
cool patient
IV ns
EKG
UA
Foley to monitor fluids
BMP
v

If pt is having hypernatremia, do we still have to give Normal Saline ?

Or do we give 0.45% Saline or D5W ?

depends on symptoms and level of sodium...can be pseudohypernatremia due to dehydration again...heat stroke is a good point! Pts may get dehydrated easily... missed that point thanks for bringing it up!

If this was a heat disorder case, it would be 'heat exhaustion' , because pt's temp did not exceeded 40 C.
If it has exceeded 40 C then we would call it heat stroke.

the difference of heat stroke and exhaustion is sweating.

exhaustion you still sweat
stroke NO SWEAT

temp can be equally high
