Succinylcholine is agonist at the NM (nicotinic receptors at the neuromuscular junction) but produces a mantained depolarization that at the end produces desensitization of the receptors and muscle paralysis as if it were an antagonist such as tubocurarine, atracurium and pancuronium, but succynilcholine duration is so short (few minutes) it does not need rx, but there's genotypic variation with the succynilcholinesterase which metabolizes it, so there are people that may need mechanic ventilation for longer period of time because they have defiency of this enzyme.
