If you don't match..... - azeb

Does the whole process of getting into residency in the US favor US graduates? YES
Does the whole process of getting into residency in India favor Indian graduates? YES
Does the whole process of getting into residency in the UK favor UK graduates? YES

This is the normal politics of any capitalist (non-communist) country. In the US, government funding subsidizes medical school education. Residency education is also subsidized by the federal government (and, indirectly, hopsitals get more more for US graduates). Therefore, it makes sense that there will be a many factors favoring that US graduates match at a higher rate than foreign trained graduates.

If you do not match, does that mean you did not deserve to match? NO.
If you do not match, does that mean it is someone else's fault (the system, or someone else took your position)? NO.
It only means that something about your application did not beat the application of some other foreign graduate who did match.

Foreign graduates are mainly competing with foreign graduates--which is the case in most countries.

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.
-Helen Keller. Even failure in steps, or failure to match is a continuum of succession of lessons towards the goal of obtaining a residency.
