For surgery cases, i did the neccessary tests when the pts were stable then requested consults but when unstable, i had to intervene first be it giving Oxygen, intubating pt etc. the key is that, when an unstable pt and u've intervened initially and call for a consult, if for surgery asap, the case ends immediately as it happened to me in the case that ended early.
