@rajji A US visa CANNOT be issued inside the US. This applies to any visa ... It can only be issued outside the US. Look at the link that kirito has provided. Remember we are talking about visa stamp.

US visa can't be issued inside US but the change of status from 1 visa to other can be done staying in US..So J1 to H1 can be done staying inside the US. I mean Visa stamping can be done staying inside US

Visa stamping on the passport can only be done outside the US.
It's different from the change of status. Visa stamping is necessary if you want to re-enter the US. You need to show that stamp to the immigration officer to enter the states. If you have no desire to visit your home country or other countries, you don't need a visa stamp. |
