so recap on how to get into to apply and be in this neverending cycle

- for allopathic students: pass usmle step 1, usmle step 2 clinical knowledge and step 2 clinical skills. step 3 is for additional bonus and for visa purposes.

- for osteopathic students: pass complex exam (this for osteopathic students to elaborate)

so this allows one to apply, decision on intake is decided by individual hospitals/programs

recap still on hospitals/programs decisions:

taking in a person is based on variety of factors considered by programs. these are some
- usmle score
- having good letter of reference
- having been in the USA and had worked with a clinician there, whom has written a letter of reference
- year of graduation
- medical school background (medical transcript, MSPE [mandatory for USA students but not for Foreign Medical School Graduates])
- having publications
- having other degrees related to medicine i.e. mph, phd etc
- personal statement
- miscellaneous stuff: like recommendations amongst pd circle, connections and such
and numerous other stuff

recap on hospitals/programs authority:

- they can register those they take in as their residents in their state medical boards. this will be temporary license provided for such training purposes. After the training then one can obtain permanent licensing with the medical boards of that states

- they can petition together with ecfmg for j1 visa or for h1b visa. immigration and the medical boards and ecfmg are separate bodies. immigrations decision is solely theirs and take the petition from programs and ecfmg on case by case basis. they have the right to refuse visa and that has been a problem with some programs, some don't get their visa before the beginning of residency.

unless you are member of presidential administration, you won't be let in once you screw up with immigration hahahahhaa i bluff, ahem, so one has to be clear of any immigration law violation and any other stuff that would put anyone in trouble with the state medical boards. if you clear on these then you have nothing to worry about once you get matched

oh and another authority of the hospitals/programs

- they can terminate any resident if they are not up to standard, along with any h1b or j1 visa granted will be revoked.

It is absolutely true: the filter can be applied to your last i.e. your most recent score only. That is the way the software works.

But I think your problem maybe something else, what is your YOG? Do you need visa?

Your creds and good and you should be able to get iv's no doubt. This year the programs are very slow compared to all other years. You can expect some iv's in the next 2-3 weeks. For sure, this month there will be a lot of activity until mid-Nov mostly.

recap:

after programs review applications, those they reject, they forward a letter of rejection. they can say anything in this letter, but end point is, "we cannot offer you interview"

if they review the applications and decide they want to see the applicants, they will forward a letter stating such and such, end point is, "contact us to arrange for interview date"

the review process:
since there will be thousands of application, not a single program can possibly go through every application, hence they do filter to lessen the amount of application they review, like everyone less then score of 80 in step 1 or step 2, they be automatically rejected. or if they graduate more then 5 years ago, they be automatically rejected without even reading their applications. so for these people, a letter of rejection is forwarded to them. it is just one common letter that they send out.

some programs however just don't send anything, either rejection or ivs hence keep applicants in the dark. hence the reason why some applicants wants to followup on these applications, they neither recieve interviews nor rejection.
