.thanks to the almity God I passed this exam.If I did every one of you will make it.i also thank those people who helped me to pass this exam.i took my exam at Philadelphia on aug 5 and I studied FA and some part of uw ,for a month on and off.i did not practice well because I could not get study partner.I practiced in front of the mirror timed.I also have full time job took leave at the last moment IMG graduated in 2001
What I did rightI knocked the door, smile, called the sp by name, and said I am Dr.a..,draped the patient, asked permission to write a note, washed my hands(do not hesitate to ask about occupation and even joke at that time because u showed the SP how confident you are even if sweating inside)spend two minutes out side the door to write pam hugs foss and liqor aaa and DDX,and followed exactly what I wrote with out thinking. It really deserve it because I even finish the whole encounter a minute or two earlier.I counseled and closed every encounter.Asked if they had any questions at the end.I finished my notes in time because I practiced that alone and experience in the clinic I am working currently.By the way I was planning to take step 2 in dec with the help of GOD I did very important PE not detailed one even in neurology case I followed the Kaplan CS book about how to do neurologic exam quickly(with in less than 3mins)try that. That really answered my anxiety of a neurology case because of the time constraint What did wrongNot practicing guys practice practice and practice, did not ask a very important question in cardiac case(,ORTHOPNEA,PND)it is very amazing I remembered that after 6days,can u believe that.My mind was thinking about pulmonary embolism as ddx and did not have a clue of the case in the encounter.I learned that the basic thing to pass CS is following patient comfort not asking detail questions, forget to pool the leg rest and the SP told me to do so my terrible hand writing, and disorganizes history(tried to follow the format but if I remembered something I include it in between sentences) sorry about the disorganized information I was so happy and wanted to share it with you because I gained a lot from this forum

i forgot to pull out the legrest in one case..forgot to do a couple of tests in a backpain case...did not tell the pt about rectal exam in abd pain case...pretty much messed up one ectope case which i got..couldnt complete 2 cases but i told them that i wanted to what all things i wanted to do..like in in a weakness case..i told the sp that i have an emergency...but i would get back and like to examine his upperlimbs for reflexes..but what i did do was maintain good eye contact..i followed pamhugsfoss..but kept writing to a minimum .my patient notes were all over the place ..in one case i could only think of 2 dds and 2 invest.i didnt do fundoscopy in any case except in which the sp had a history of high bp..i think councilling is very important and expressing empathy too...the sps still play the most important part in rating you.best of luck to everyone.
